Parkerville Wood Products Update | Print |
Monday, 27 March 2006

Greetings to our customers and friends,

We wanted to update you as to the status of our project of relocating the hardwood lumber business and factory store, formerly of Harris Woodworking a division of Harris Enterprises Corp. We have been dealing with the normal hurdles that go along with starting a new company, and feel we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our anticipated opening date will be somewhere around mid September.

Our first task was choosing a name for our new company which truly represents the full variety of products being offered and also makes use of an historic name from the Manchester area. As you may or may not know, we temporarily used the name of Harris Wood Products, Inc. while determining an appropriate direction and business name. We have selected Parkerville Wood Products, Inc. as our company’s name. This is derived from the area rich in history in which our new facility will be located. Our address of 580 Parker Street, accessible only from Mitchell Drive off Sheldon Road, is an area originally referred to as the Parkerville Section of the Town of Manchester. The building was built in 1901 and was used as one of the original paper mills for the Lydall and Foulds Paper Company. We are pleased to be settling in a part of Manchester known for the location of historical businesses.

Our plan is to continue to offer the core group of products that the Harris retail store built its reputation on. Our number one priority is selling premium grades of domestic and exotic woods. We will continue to offer hardwood and marine grade plywood, Behlens finishing materials, Systems Three epoxies, magazines and Amana router bits, as well as many new products. In addition, we will continue to offer stock and custom moldings, custom flooring thresholds or transition strips, wood and furniture repair, mantles and other woodworking in general. Our expertise and technical advice will also be available to you. We will have a better selection than ever.

The research and selection of the new items to be offered has been the focus of our efforts over the last few months. We will be creating a unique and diverse product offering yet will maintain one that is all linked to wood fabrication or wood material usage. We are expecting to offer the following new items:

  1. Stock line of turned table legs in a few different styles and species
  2. Custom Cabinet doors with many selections yet offered with a quick lead time.
  3. Custom designed and fabricated Home Storage Systems (closets, pantries, home office, etc.)
